Tricky Mansion, developed as part of the UJI Game Jam 2024 in only 46 hours, is now available in version 1.0.0!
New features
- New HUD: HUD elements have been improved and reorganized for clarity.
- New penalty: If the player stands still next to a wall, the floors will slowly descend towards the monster, with no chance to regain the lost height.
- Tutorial screen: A tutorial screen has been added to guide the player through the game mechanics.
- Visual feedbacks: New visual effects have been added when taking damage, throwing the “trick” or running out of time.
HUD
- Shake effect: Added on certain HUD elements to enhance the visual experience.
- Load screen: Added an illustration on the load screen at the start of the game.
- Monster animations: Added revamped animations for the monster.
- Main character: Added death animation and minor improvements.
Interface
- Menu Redesign: The game menus have been redesigned to improve the experience.
- Adapted main menu: The main menu has been readjusted to fit most screen resolutions.
- Login screen: Converted to a popup inside the main menu.
- Settings screen: Added a small settings screen.
- Load animation: Added a loading animation while trying to connect to the server.
Visual changes
- Drops have been made slightly larger to improve visibility.
- Accessibility settings have been added to improve user experience.
Balance
- Object appearance adjustment: Adjusted the rate at which objects appear and the score they award to improve the flow of the game.
Sound
- Sound balancing: All sounds have been balanced to avoid being intrusive.
- Sound correction when throwing paper: The correct sound is now played when throwing paper.
- Paused sound effects: Specific sound effects have been added when pausing the game.
- Button sound correction: Button sound is now played correctly.
- Main menu background sound playback correction.
Performance
- Various performance improvements and bug fixes that affected performance.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug that prevented re-entering a game after quitting.
- Fixed a bug that caused the player to fall out of the map when starting a new game.
- Fixed a bug that showed the particles over the pause menus.
- Fixed a problem that caused an incorrect behavior in the hitbox of the monster.
- Fixed a bug that caused the character to jump when sliding down.
- Fixed a bug that allowed to throw paper while the character was on the wall.
- Fixed a bug that allowed to attack while throwing paper.
- Fixed camera shake effect.
- Fixed a bug in which the visual effects of damage were not reproduced for Pumpkins and Candles.
- Fixed a bug where settings were not persistent.
Others
- The application icon has been redesigned.
- Improved monster hitbox: Now better matches the character's animation.
- Drops on higher platforms: If a drop appears on a platform above the player, it will drop towards him.
- Several improvements have been made to the score server.
